Last weekend I had the opportunity to go to the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York for a workshop called “Goddess to the Core” with Sierra Bender. The focus of the weekend was to take some time to explore ways that we can access our inner intuition to honour our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies.
As a group of 40 women, we spent time meditating, doing yoga and a ‘boot camp’ type workout, hiking and honouring the strength of our femininity and intuition. We did some really cool experiential exercises learning about energy and the power of attention and intention.
One of the exercises had us writing one of our limiting beliefs on a pine board with the opposite belief on the back. Each woman got up and publicly stated the belief that was holding her back in some way. Then, with Sierra holding the board, we were to access the energy from our inner core and with a powerful and swift kick- break the board in half! (there were fabulous drummers-drumming the whole time) I should tell you that, although some of you may be thinking this would be quite simple- the first woman had a heck of a time…
Now, I need to confess that I tend to get all anxious when I have to do something physical that also feels challenging. When I was a kid I wasn’t encouraged to do a lot of sports and I think it somehow stunted my passion for sports etc. (I have slowly been working on this…)
So here I am, having to get up in front of 39 other women, state a limiting belief and at the same time deal with what I lovingly refer to as PAPA (physical activity performance anxiety). And so with attention on Sierra’s eyes and not the board, and intention to bust through the belief I had written, and finally by honouring the powerful energy of my core- I dealt one snap of my foot and snapped that baby in half! And then of course I screamed and jumped up and down like a maniac!
This was just another one of those opportunities in my life that remind me of the importance to access and honour my inner strength, and to know that when I set my intention, that anything is possible!
What a fabulous weekend it was!
